The Hospital Services
Our Lady of Lourdes hospital has a total of 300 beds. The Pediatric Ward is designated at St. Martin Ward. Preferably all pediatric patients shall be admitted to that floor. We have 3 special wards of six bed capacity each, the gastrointestinal ward at Room 130, the Pulmonary ward at 132 and other pediatric cases at room 131. We have three beds at 129 which is dedicated for pediatric surgery cases. We have one isolation room at the same ward and a pediatric ICU room. The St. Martin ward has a fully equipped treatment room. The pediatric office is strategically placed besidet St. Martin ward for better accessibility to our residents. Although St. Martin is preferably for pediatrics, pediatrics patients may still be admitted in other floors as the need arises
There are other UNITS in the hospital that is involved with PEDIATRIC PATIENTS and these are:
A. Intermediate care Nursery
This specifically caters to all newborn not necessitating intensive monitoring. It serves as the transition place before rooming- in and it also houses those who are on antibiotics or prematures who are growers. It has a breastfeeding room and a milk bank. It has the following equiptments:
Incubators
Heart rate monitor
Infusion pump
Phototherapy unit
Treatment areas for each section
B. NEONATAL INTENSIVE CARE
This caters to all sick newborns requiring intensive monitoring. It has the following equiptments:
Incubators/isolette
Overhead heating equiptment
Pulse oximeter
Oxygen inlets
Infusion pumps
Ventilator
Phototherapy
Radio box
C. Pediatric ICU
It is in the second floor of the hospital together with adult ICU. Two beds are specifically assigned to pediatrics. It is specially designed , equipped and staffed unit to cater for critically ill patient that may need intensive, continuous monitoring
D. ER- OUT Patient- Patient Service
The Our Lady of Lourdes Hospital ER-OPS is situated at the side of the hospital and in between the hospital building and the medical arts building. The emergency room has an 8 bed capacity, 2 of which is solely for pediatric patients. The emergency room set up is flexible in the sense that it may serve as a bed for the non toxic patients awaiting availability of room, and it may serve patient needing life support machines since every bed has its own set of 02, suction and electric plug ins
The pediatric out patient service area consists of 3 rooms, room 1 has 2 beds, room 2 has I bed and 2 cribs, and room 3 has I bed which also serves as the isolation room. The emergency room has a daily census of 10-20 admissions everyday, and the out patient service sees 40-50 patients a day. The er-ops is manned by I resident and I post graduate intern per duty day.
