The Physical Therapy and Rehabilitation Unit caters to patients with neurological, rheumatologic, musculoskeletal or cardiopulmonary disorders both as in and out patients by providing therapeutic services so that patients will be able to return to their optimum functional capacity.

The Department offers services which include physiatrist evaluation planning, physical therapy, occupational therapy and speech therapy.

The cases treated in the Department include the following:

• Stroke
• Cerebral palsy
• Osteoarthritis
• Low back pain
• Neck pain
• Rheumatoid arthritis
• Traumatic brain injury
• Poliomyelitis
• Carpal tunnel syndrome
• Cumulative trauma disorder
• Peripheral neuropathy
• Osteoporosis
• Spinal cord injury
• Frozen shoulder, rotator cuff tendonitis
• Sports injuries
• Burns


Interventions that are provided in the Department include the following:

• Cancer rehabilitation and pain relief
• Cardiopulmonary rehabilitation
• Cognitive rehabilitation
• Dysphagia management
• Edema control
• Electroanalgesia
• Gait training and retraining
• Joint conservation techniques
• Neurodevelopmental training
• Neurosensory stimulation
• Orthotics Prescription and Fabrication
• Prosthetic prescription
• Speech dysfunction evaluation and treatment
• Splint prescription and fabrication
• Sports injury rehabilitation
• Training for independence in activity daily living
• Training for return to work

The Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation Department is located at Rm 103, Ground Floor, Medical Arts Building.
It houses the clinics of the PMRD consultants, physical therapy section, occupational therapy section, speech therapy section and gym.

Monday to Saturday           8:00 am – 12:00 noon         am cut-off 10:30

NOTE: HMO PATIENTS must bring with them Letter of Authorization from respective HMO coordinators to be submitted prior to start of therapy.
